Healing is such an incredible process. Resistance to the situation can create more stress than the situation. Anger at the situation can cause more stress than the situation as well. However, they are a natural part of change and ill health. We still have to acknowledge the upset, discomfort, sadness or pain to be able to then let them go.
What is the best thing to do?
Accept, surrender, allow the process and find the gifts it bringing you if possible.
I recently broke my wrist, and have been thrown into a new reality of living with my parents, unable to drive and the prospect of a further 8 to 10 weeks of healing time. What else is there to do but surrender to the situation and allow the process. Fighting against something that has already happened is pointless, however, finding a new reality within it can support the healing process and become one of your greatest gifts.
Giving yourself permission to allow the process, find new ways of functioning and the gifts of the situation, can be a whole new adventure in itself. We are so used to resisting 'what is' and finding all the problems in our situation, however, illness is not an inconvenience, ultimately it is a sign from your body telling you that something is out of balance.
Usually what we do is reach for a pill or something that masks the problem, then don't deal with the underlying issue. We just cover it over and hope it goes away. We all know that doesn't work! We can cover over everything in our lives, bury them deep inside and try to get on with things. Eventually though, something has to give and we end up with a bigger problem than was initially highlighted to us.
Our animals bodies also work in the same way, and if we cover up the outer symptoms, they experience prolonged problems too. They, the same us, can experience grief, trauma, organ problems, skin problems etc and if we just put creams on, give them medication or another non personal intervention, we block their ability to heal and shake off their dis-ease.
When we stop and ask ourselves -
Why is this happening?
What is it trying to tell me?
What are the potential gifts?
This enquiry can be more healing and empowering than why is this happening to me, I hate this, I haven't got time for this. Far more stressful for you, others around you and the time you've been given to heal can become welcomed and embraced.
Or if its relating to your animal, become curious about what has changed, is their diet different, did they have an experience that is troubling them or are they mirroring me!
Taking time to connect to them, tune into to them telepathically and just be available to them with a practical and curious mind can help both you and them.
