
PAWS — The Mindful Dog Way
If you’ve found your way here, you may already feel that living with dogs could be different. Many of us were taught that when dogs struggle, they need to be trained, corrected, or controlled.
My work starts from another place.
I believe dogs are not problems to fix; they are beings trying to live within a human world that often feels confusing, overwhelming, and demanding. Behaviour is often communication, adaptation, or stress, not stubbornness or defiance.
As The Mindful Dog Coach, I guide humans toward a more compassionate and realistic way of living with dogs; one grounded in awareness, emotional safety, and non-coercive, force-free guidance.
I've seen behaviour change naturally when they feel safe and understanding between you both grows.
I have created my own method that I call PAWS.
🐾 The PAWS Method
P — Perspective
Shifting how we understand behaviour and moving away from blame. Pausing and taking stock of what we are seeing and asking what might be causing this and what is my dog trying to tell me. Asking what am I expecting to happen opposed to what is happening and I am trying to impose my will instead of listening to them
A — Awareness
Learning to observe our dogs without judgement or urgency. Giving them time to settle and explore their world while we are present with them and giving them the time they need so urgency lessens
W — Wisdom
Understanding their emotional needs, co-regulating your nervous systems through sitting calmly with them, allowing the to make decisions for themselves without forcing, and understanding what dogs require to feel safe and confident in human society.
S — Support
Practising this way of living through my guidance, reflection, and shared learning. I offer my knowledge and experience to support you with seeing and relating with your dog differently.
This is not traditional dog training. There are no quick fixes or dominance techniques here; Instead, we will explore relationship, responsibility, and presence, much like mindful parenting or compassionate living practices.

It is a lifestyle choice and not training. It is not a quick fix. It is not something else you have to do or fit into your already busy life, it is just a different way of seeing and thinking about your dog or other animals in your care.
I offer kindness, understanding and compassion; and when done in partnership and with consideration; our dogs and our own lives will be transformed.
We are their guide to how to live and succeed in our unpredictable world more confidently.
