PAWS — The Mindful Dog Way
If you’ve found your way here, you may already feel that living with dogs could be different. Many of us were taught that when dogs struggle, they need to be trained, corrected, or controlled.
My work begins somewhere else.
I believe dogs are not problems to fix; they are beings trying to live within a human world that often feels confusing, overwhelming, and demanding.
Behaviour is often communication, adaptation, or stress, not stubbornness or defiance.
As The Mindful Dog Coach, I guide humans toward a more compassionate and realistic way of living with dogs; one grounded in awareness, emotional safety, and non-coercive, force-free guidance.
Because behaviour changes naturally when safety and understanding grow.
My PAWS Method
My work follows a gentle framework I created ,called PAWS:
P — Perspective
Shifting how we understand behaviour and moving away from blame and seeing communication instead
A — Awareness
Learning to observe our dogs; and ourselves, without judgement or urgency. Instead look for the root cause under the behaviour.
W — Wisdom
Understanding emotional needs, nervous systems, and what dogs require to feel safe and confident in human society.
S — Support
Practising this way of living through guidance, reflection, and shared learning.
This is not traditional dog training and there are no quick fixes or dominance techniques here.
Instead, I explore relationship, responsibility, and presence; much like mindful parenting or compassionate living practices. I focus on understanding, building trust and offering support and kindness, ethically using force free and non-coercive methods.
How to Begin
If this resonates, the best place to start is my free 14-day email journey:
“Connect With Your Dog"
It introduces the foundations of the Mindful Dog Way and helps you to see if this is for you, while helping you to begin seeing your dog; and your relationship differently. I work on the premise that when we are stable, safe and that our environment and caregivers are predictable, our dogs follow suit.
By us becoming more self aware, mindful and aligned with our dogs, our life and our other relationships become more harmonious.
It is a lifestyle choice and not training. It is not a quick fix. It is not something else you have to do or fit into your already busy life, it is just a different way of seeing and thinking about your dog or other animals in your care.
I offer kindness, understanding and compassion; and when done in partnership and with consideration; our dogs and our own lives will be transformed.
We are their guide to how to live and succeed in our unpredictable world more confidently.
